Free Rooms in Vegas

You have already learned about receiving free drinks and free buffets by playing blackjack. From my experience, to receive free rooms in Las Vegas you will need to play a minimum of $25/hand for 4 hours per day. This minimum is for most downtown Las Vegas casinos and many of the off-strip casinos. To stay on the Las Vegas strip, you will need to play for a higher average amount per hand. For this reason, I recommend you play in downtown or off-strip Las Vegas when you are looking to receive room comps.

Game Hours $/hand Hands/Hour Action Game EV Expected Loss
2D H17 4 $25 84 $8,400 -0.60% $50.40
2D H17 4 $25 70 $7,000 -0.60% $42.00
2D H17 4 $25 60 $6,000 -0.60% $36.00

Main Street Station Las Vegas RoomThe above chart shows your expected loss from playing a 2D H17 blackjack game for $25/hand for 4 hours at various hands per hour. In order for a free room to make sense, you must value a free room for more than your expected loss. If you value free rooms at $60/night, you will have a positive net expectation of at least $10/night depending on the number of hands played per hour. For the Las Vegas strip casinos, you will need to value room comps higher for them to make mathematical sense, due to the higher play requirements.

But it gets better, what if you get free drinks, free food, and a free room.

Free Drink Value Free Food Value Free Room Value Expected Blackjack Loss Net Win
NONE NONE $60 $42 $18
$10 NONE $60 $42 $28
$10 $15 $60 $42 $43

If you can get free drinks, free food, and a free room by playing a 2D H17 blackjack game at 70 hands/hour for $25/hand for 4 hours, you will have a positive net expectation of $43/day. Not too bad. As always, this is your expectation, and fluctuation will cause your experience to vary in any one trip, but will average the above amounts over the long-term.

Do not forget to hand your players club card to the dealer at every table you sit down at. This is the only way that the casino will track your bets and award you comps.
